Hyacinthos, fils d' Oebalos, roi de Sparte, est un jeune homme d' une beauté légendaire, aimé d' Apollon.
Un jour, le dieu et le jeune homme, en promenade dans les collines, s' exercent au lancer du disque.
Apollon tire le premier, mais, soudain, son disque est dévié, frappant Hyacinthos, qui tombe à terre, mort.
Apollon, désespéré, transforme le sang qui coule de la blessure de son ami en une fleur: la jacinthe.

Hyacinthos, son of Oebalos, king of Sparta, is a young man of legendary beauty, beloved of Apollo.
One day the god and the young man, out walking in the hills' s exercise in the discus throw.
Apollo fire first, but suddenly, his record is deflected, striking Hyacinthos, which falls to the ground, dead.
Apollo, despair, turns the blood flowing from his wounded friend in a flower hyacinth.
